INTEGRA SOOO LONG
175 GRAM ULTRALITE
Integra, winner of several long drive contests, has come up with a new, really hi-tech design. And is now available in three of their titanium heads.
Specifically, driver heads forever have weighed @ 200 grams. The small headed driver heads from years ago weighed 200 grams; the "oversize" driver 350 cc heads from a few years ago weighed 200 grams; and the really oversize 460 cc heads of today weigh 200 grams. Shafts of course have gotten tremendously lighter... from 125 gram steel shafts, to graphite shafts @ 65 grams...down to 55 grams...even 50 grams. And while grips have pretty much maintained their 50 gram weights over the years... Winn finally came out with a Winn Lite grip, that has reduced these normal weights to @ 25 grams (obviously a 50% weight reduction).
The goal, of course, with the driver, is to increase distance. And the main way to do that is to increase swing speed. And the lighter the club, the faster the swing speed.
Bottom line.. Integra's new head weighs only 175 grams, a really significant reduction in weight of 25 grams. Combine this with a 25 gram Winn Lite grip, and you have a weight reduction of 50 grams. Unbelievable. And yet swing weights will be comparable, because we are lowering the head weight by 25 grams, and reducing the weight at the other end of the club by the same 25 grams.
Who are these new driver's best for.... probably most all golfers, but particularly those with average to slow swings; and/or those with reasonably smooth tempo's; and/or those who do not mishit the ball consistently.
The Sooo Long 175 is available right handed in lofts of 9.5; 10.5 and 12 degree. The head is constructed of 15-3-3-3 Beta Titanium, which is harder and thinner than normal titanium - resulting in more of a trampoline effect. The head has also gone through a special heat treating process, making the face even harder. And it of course is a 460cc head.
